"District B13" Sequel Yes, American Remake No
by Fred Topel | March 13, 2007
Blog Article | Discuss Article
The Luc Besson produced "District B13" made such waves in Hollywood, introducing Parkour as a new martial arts style, that studios immediately wanted to make it their own. Besson, however, said no to a remake.

"We're not going to do it," he said. "I don't know, I don't feel it. I'd rather do "District 13 2" with the same guys in France. But at the certain moment, there's a big studio who asked us to remake the film and I said no."

The original starred Parkour founder David Belle and Cyril Raffaelli, taking on criminals in a futuristic city using Belle's fluid art of bouncing off walls. The sequel would reunite Belle and Raffaelli, however Besson hopes for a tonal shift.

"We're going to do a sequel in France. It's going to be just a little bit more funny I think, the second one."

"a little bit more funny?" why not make it a lot more kick a$$?!? the chase scene in that was unbelievable, amazing fights....a sequel? sure why not? remake. hail to tha no. as long as it's got those same guys in it, it can be cool. but a remake would just be lame.

Maybe they can make this one longer than an hour and with an ending that doesn't suck

well just an hour of that dude jumping off buildings and running up walls would be good enough for me. but yeah more kick ass. not funny. everyone knows that french people don't have a sense of humor!

I vote Michael Bay do the remake...
Who am I kidding? It would be like remaking Amelie or Crouching Tiger for an American audience! Sequel, yes. Remake, boooo....

I would like to see this as a remake instead, and they should include a plot about a super-secret part of the FBI trying to kill the President, who's played by (get THIS) Chuck Norris! hahahahahhaah?? get it? chuck norris! you know? the 80's?? ALF??
I've never seen the original version of this, but whatever it's about they need to change it a bit. Juice it up, for an american audience.

I hope you are sarcastic. Making any kind of comment/judgment on a movie you have never seen makes you look like an ass.

But yeah, I'm glad there will be no US remake and I would be down for seeing a sequel.

I loved this film! The fluid martial arts style made it look like the human body was MEANT to hurdle walls and buildings. It was pretty interesting too, and a lot of fun. I hope they bring back Tyena.. she's gorgeous and deserves a shot at the big time!

This sounds awesome, I'm all for a sequel that's "a little funnier" as long as it kicks ***, and I'm definitely against an American remake because David Belle and Cyril Raffaelli make the movie what it is. I hope this one is longer though.
