Sarah Silverman to Host MTV Movie Awards
by Scott Weinberg | April 27, 2007
Discuss Article
She might not be all that big of a movie star, but I bet most of you will still be pretty psyched to learn that comic Sarah Silverman will be hosting this year's MTV Movie Awards. Plus the show will be live for the first time ever, so that should be pretty fun.

Best known for her TV work and brazenly amusing stand-up material, Ms. Silverman can also be seen in movies like "School of Rock," "School for Scoundrels," "The Way of the Gun," "Rent," "Evolution," and "Heartbreakers." Her concert flick, "Jesus is Magic," houses some of the lady's best stand-up, in case you need an introduction.

"Ever since I was a little girl, before it even started in 1980 -- MTV -- I said, 'Someday, I want there to be an all-music channel that gives out awards for movies. And I want to host that show," is what the intermittently controversial comedienne had to say. "I'm training for this the way what's-her-face trained for T2."

Naahh I'm kinda with you on that man. She's got her moments, but for the most part she's pretty annoying.

She's a one-trick pony who's basically the female Andrew Dice Clay: say something "shocking" and hope people laugh in embarassment. She has this faux "I'm so great" act that I don't think is really an act; she thinks her sht don't stink.

idk i think her voice is a little.....whiny but she is very sharp, witty and kinda weird at the same time which makes for a funny comedian: therefore, im sure she'll make a decent MTV host. (anybody caught her hosting the independent spirit awards at IFC channel earlier this year? she was pretty funny there)

As far as women comedians go, Sarah Silverman is by far my favorite (granted, that's saying...well...pretty much nothing). Oops. Did I just say women comedians suck? Haha, get it? WOMEN comedians SUCK! Hah-hah...ha... Ironically, that is what most women comedians' stand up sounds like. The bad boyfriends/sex/kids/relationships. Whenever I hear a women-comic on say Comedy Central or something of the like that garbage ususally flows from their mouths. And it is lame.

Not all, mind. There are a few exceptions that actually break this mold, Sarah Silverman being one of them; but for the most part this actually (and sadly) rings true.

Just my opinion, naturally.

That new show on Comedy Central was canceled for a reason. Unless it wasn't canceled, but there sure aren't commercials for it anymore.
