If any of you hardcore "Batman" fans need a new web page to refresh every day, we've got one for you.

Here's where you'll find the official site for Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight," which hits theaters next summer. Unfortunately it's little more than a 'splash page' at this point. Yep, just one single image to keep you satisfied until the meatier goodies arrive.

The sequel to "Batman Begins" will star returnees Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman -- as well as newcomers Maggie Gyllenhaal, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, and Eric Roberts.

I loved Batman Begins. I am a big fan of Nolan. On the Spider-Man side of things, I was disappointed with the finale, but it was better than many comic book movies. The Dark Knight has the best cast ever assembled for a comic book movie. I am so excited for this film. But you have to give Spidey his props, he is king of the comic book movie box office.

Fanboys are fanboys, whether for Spiderman or Batman. Personally, I'll admit Spiderman 3's failings, but I will also not just take whatever Nolan gives us because it is "dark". Fanboys are always ridiculous, no matter what the object of their affection is. That's my whole point: for whatever reason, dark is in, and because Nolan is giving it to them they love him. Perhaps the superhero climate has changed, because Spiderman is much more lighthearted (how dark can you make it, it's about a high school kid, not some psychologically challenged billionaire).

First off, Bravo Blank Blank, you said it perfectly.

Secondly, the vast difference between Batman Begins and Spiderman movies can be described as polar opposites to each other. The only paty i did not care for was the fight scenes in Batman, other than that, it had everything, character depth, humor that didn't insult the audiences intelligence, a well fleshed out story, cool villains that did not idiotically monolgue. On the other hand, Spiderman had everything else wrogn with it, except for the fight scenes which were cool the first time, but lagg after seeing them a few times (i work at a movie theater). Everyone walking out of Spidey 3 praised the figth scenes, but i never heard any praising of the story, dialogue, character drama, etc. Goes to show you that Americans love the quick, cheap, unrefined tastes, thus their minds are as fatty as their guts.

Spiderman and Batman are two totally different movies. I love them both for what they are. If you can't do that, fine, you're the one who's missing out (because you're the one who can't enjoy himself in movies "below" his intelligence). Besides, I hate to point out the obvious, but neither premise for these movies would be embraced by "intelligent" people. They are both pretty much impossible, and are fantasy based on comic books. I seem to remember you being the one who makes fun of Spiderman movies at every chance you get on these forums. Let it go my man, let it go.

The Dark knight may be the most anticipated comic book movie of all time with all the expectation it has to deliver on based on the gem that is Batman Begins. Dark Knight will be the Godfather II to begins' Godfather. Count on it. Hopefully the third installment wont foll the godfather trend though.

look, spiderman 3 was definately no elektra or ghost rider, but given the quality of the second installment, 3 was definately a disappointment. you cant really compare spiderman to batman, because spiderman is inherently a "bright" character and batman is inherently a "dark" one. In fact, the two worst movies of the franchises happened when the filmmakers went against the inherent qualities of their characters and tried to make them something they are not (spiderman dark, batman light and funny in batman and robin).

spiderman 2 hit all the right notes, a sympathetic villain, an engaging romance angle, just a little bit of cheese, whereas spiderman 3 tried to hit those same notes again, but this time they were too loud and distracting, if i could follow through with the orchestra analogy. begins on the other hand, didnt go as dark as batman returns did for example, it was dark and moody without letting itself be completely overtaken...

granted, i am a batman guy, but that only means i'll be the first one to speak up if TDK isn't up to the level i expect it to be. and all indications are that TDK is in good hands, and if anything, Nolan is humble enough to acknowledge his mistakes (replacing holmes with a better actress, hopefully he decides to change his superfast fight scene editing). this movie absolutely has a chance to be the best comic book movie of all time (no matter what the box office says).

I agree with just about everything you said. Though, I think you can make a darker Spiderman film like Raimi tried, you just have to be careful. The problems with Spiderman 3 could be solved in editing. Take out one or two scenes, and you have a completely different movie. I too really enjoyed Begins, and I can't wait to see what Nolan has in store for the second movie.
I don't know how anyone can label one movie or the next "the best comic book movie of all time". If you can't compare Spiderman to Batman because of the tones, like you said, how can you make that statement? (and I agree, boxoffice doesn't matter)
