Casting News on "Speed Racer" and The Return of Chow Yun Fat!
Back and forth he goes: Looks like Chow Yun-Fat is back on board for John Woo's "Red Cliff" epic -- plus we have a little more casting (rumors) to announce regarding "Speed Racer."
First the "Speed Racer" item: Korean pop star Rain (aka Jung Ji Hoon) will most likely be stepping into a role on the Wachowksi brothers adaptation. Festival-goers may know the guy from his work in the Chan-wook Park flick "I'm a Cyborg But That's OK."
And regarding the already-frazzled nerves of filmmaker John Woo: It looks like Chow Yun Fat WILL be returning to the big-budget historical epic known as "Red Cliff." He'd walked off the movie a few weeks back for reasons that are still being debated, but he just announced that he'll be stepping back in for his old pal Woo. And they better hurry, too: Apparently the Chinese government wants this movie finished and distributed before the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

on May 17 2007 01:09 PM In reply to this comment (#865764) it sucks worse to be involved in the film industry in other places such as India where disease and famine are rampant and you have to shoot movies on the street while knee deep in cow manure. (Reply to this) |
