"Sex and the City" Movie Confirmed by Supporting Actor
Talk to any of the lead actors from "Sex and the City" and they are evasive about the movie plans. It's such a hot property, nobody wants to jinx it or spill any news. But Mario Cantone was happy to announce that he's reserved time in his schedule to reprise his role of Anthony Marantino.
"Hopefully the Sex and the City movie is going to happen this fall," he said. "If it does, I'm in it which would be nice so it better get done. They've called me about my availability, yeah, but nothing's negotiated with myself. I don't know if any of the girls are negotiated. All I know is it better get done because I want to do it."
A longtime friend of series creator Michael Patrick King, the old pal assured him a major role in the film. "I for surely know that I'm in it a good amount so that's exciting to know. He goes, 'What do you think, I’m stupid? I need the laughs.' That’s very funny. Michael Patrick King was the creative force behind that show, he's going to be writing and directing the movie, I know him for 24 years. We started doing standup together in New York at the improv. He was always very brilliant. It's exciting. I hope it happens. With him at the helm, it should be a damn good movie.”

on May 23 2007 06:20 AM ok...we get it, none of you have a career after the show...but please, the show ran on too many seasons as it is and a MOVIE?? this is just sad, and i feel sorry for everyone involved. you take 4 actresses who don't really have careers anymore, worse...they're up in their age...eeeeeeven worse...you're doing a movie about a show that was cancelled 2-3 years later than it should have. what idea got nixed?? a heartwarming story about a loving mother who spends every minute that she's not in class at Harvard taking care of her kids...and it stars britney spears? on May 23 2007 07:35 AM The problem with this movie is that while the show was entertaining, all the girls are hitched! Can't really call it sex and the city. It would be more desperate housewivesey. (Reply to this) |

on May 23 2007 10:34 AM Never watched the show either. And yeah, all the actresses are kinda up there in age, but let me just say that Kristen Davis is still HOT. Hell she'll probably still somehow be hot when she's 70. (Reply to this) |

on May 23 2007 03:43 PM Oh I can just sense the maturity OOZING through these comments! I'm a straight single guy and if I happen to be with a girl that watched the show, when the movie comes out, I'll gladly go see it with her. Now who else here has the cojones to admitting that? (Reply to this) |

on May 23 2007 05:30 PM In reply to this comment (#866552) You do know it's an unrealistic portrayal of women don't you? It's really just a soap opera, like Desperate Housewives or Gray's Anatomy. And it has nothing to do with maturity. It's more like testosterone. (Reply to this) |

on May 23 2007 05:51 PM Errr, what's a realistic portrayal of women then? What kind of women are we talking about? How does that even matter? If you didn't like or watch the show, assume your not the target audience anyway. In fact, did any of you actually watch the show? I only saw a handful of epidsodes, but I thought it was a good show - funny and well-written. I'm with CMPunk>U; my wife liked the show (and she likes both Desperate Housewifes and Gray's anatomy, btw). If she wants to see it Ill go with her. (Reply to this) |

on May 23 2007 08:40 PM Is it possible for a message board on this site to not turn into a bloody argument? I sort of get the feeling that what happens to people when they sit behind a keyboard is akin to road rage. Just like with that mini rant right there. (Reply to this) |

on May 24 2007 08:55 AM In reply to this comment (#866556) God forbid we have a free discussion on a discussion board. Isn't that what this place is for? If you pay attention to any of my posts, you'll see I don't hit below the belt. Many people will because they feel empowered by their anonymity. (Reply to this) |

on May 24 2007 02:19 PM In reply to this comment (#866557) Well to be honest I think all this stuff is really just starting to get to me. Please don't take this as America bashing (I'm American), but I feel like we tend to argue a wee bit too much then is good. Everybody has to express all there opinions about everything, and attack anyone who doesn't agree with them. Looking at your posts I'll agree that you don't seem to be a troll or anything, which is good since the internet is inundated with those people. I'm just getting tired of everyone taking their beliefs so seriously, and starting arguments in EVERY SINGLE THREAD just about. I guess in a way this is a bit of a silly post. Here I am arguing about how people argue too much. (Reply to this) |

on May 24 2007 02:44 PM In reply to this comment (#866558) No problem. I really understand the position you're taking. The internet can feel pretty negative and cynical sometimes. But it also empowers us. Instead of watching the men in the suits tell us what to think, like on TV, here we can form our own opinions. I post here because I like movies. I enjoy watching them, and I hope to someday have the chance to make them. That's really the bottom line. (Reply to this) |
