Get Ready for a New "Invisible Man"
This year the always-busy David S. Goyer gave us "The Invisible." Next year he'll be offering a new rendition of H.G. Wells' "The Invisible Man."
Not not a remake, but more of a follow-up. According to Variety, the project is thought of as a sequel: "The story centers on a British nephew of the original Invisible Man. Once he discovers his uncle's formula for achieving invisibility, he is recruited by British intelligence agency MI5 during WWII."
Universal wants Goyer to write and direct the new "Invisible Man" movie. He'll also be doing that "Magneto" spinoff for Fox. No word yet on who'll be cast in the "invisible" title role, but I vote for Christopher Walken. Why not?

on Jun 17 2007 12:48 PM The Invisible was one of the worst movies I've seen, it appeared to be one of those churn um out to make some money type of movies. If the same guy is writing and directing this with how bad the story in The Invisible was I can't imagine this could be any good either. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 17 2007 02:36 PM In reply to this comment (#869708) But Goyer has written some really good comic book and sci-fi outings, such as; Dark City, Batman Begins, and the Blade films. He may have stumbled a little bit here and there, but as any artistic person will tell you, not every piece is a gem. I just wonder if he can maintain focus enough to get anything done. Right now he is attached to Supermax (the Green Arrow-in-prison movie) Magneto, and this new Invisible Man movie. Seems like he might be biting off a bit more than he can chew. on Jun 17 2007 10:08 PM It sounds like it could be OK, but they shouldn't let Goyer direct. When he's only involved with the writing, the movies seem to be good (the first 2 Blade movies, Dark City), but usually when he directs (The Invisible, Blade: Trinity), the movies end up sucking. on Jun 18 2007 02:54 PM Walken, Cruise, or Penn would be great. I thought Goyer actually did a good job directing The Invisible, it did have some huge plot holes in it though. And he is a proven writer, so I'll have to see how this fills out before I get exicited or not. (Reply to this) |
