There is a "Punisher 2" Director
by Fred Topel | June 18, 2007
Blog Article | Discuss Article
John Dahl may be out, as he explained to Rotten Tomatoes earlier, but there is a director ready to continue Frank Castle's quest for justice, even if there's no actor yet. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige revealed his secret, partly.

"We have a director," he said. "I think we'd like to announce a director and an actor together."

Whoever it is, it must be promising, because Marvel has high criteria for their properties. "The only reason I have any interest in doing another Punisher movie is to do a better Punisher movie. If Marvel thought we wouldn't be able to do that, we wouldn't make it."

So stay tuned. "Lionsgate is putting that one together with us right now. I think we'll be announcing a director probably in the near future and another star in the near future."

The suspense is almost momentarily distracting me.

"...Marvel has high criteria for their properties." uhhh... what?

Either way, I'm happy. Hopefully they'll do a better job this time 'round.

"Marvel has high criteria for their properties"

Hahaha... Yeah right, I can't believe some of the people they hire to pen, and direct their movies

I'd try to get Walter Hill to direct the sequel.

No, I didn't think so either. The movie is like 50/50 in my book. There were a lot of good parts in the movie, but a lot of bad parts as well.

What's wrong with Marvel's criteria? Are you calling the casts and crews of the X-Men, Spiderman and Hulk movies second rate horseshit?

Even if you didn't like any of those movies (I know you all hate Hulk), their casts and production teams were all incredible.

Bring back Tom Jane
How about a little freakin' continuity? Jane deserves another movie

You know who they should get to write and direct this is, and I can't believe I didn't think of this earlier, Troy Duffy. The guy who did Boondock Saints. There's someone who understands the material and could really pull off the dark comedy Marvel says they want for this movie.

Man your right, he'd be Awsome. I'd like to see Jane back though. If he's not back it sorta says he didn't like the idea or they arn't paying enough, not really a good sighn?

I don't want them to do it without Thomas Jane.

Yeah, I've been telling my friends that "Boondock Saints" was a better Punisher movie than "The Punisher" was, ever since "The Punisher" came out back in '04. A lot of the recent Punisher comics center around the Irish, Italian, and Russian mobs, similar to the "Boondock Saints."
