The Kreacher Stays in the Picture for "Harry Potter" 6 & 7
by Scott Weinberg | June 28, 2007
Discuss Article | Blog Article | Email To A Friend
Apparently the character of "Kreacher" had been snipped out of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," but series creator J.K. Rowling had a little something to say about that.

She was very polite about it, but the author's advice was basically this: Don't snip this character out of Part 5, because he becomes pretty important in Parts 6 and 7. So there's a juicy little hint for all you Potter maniacs out there.

From what I've gathered, this Kreacher character is the house elf of Lucius Black. Kinda like Dobby, but evil. Right?

Here's what director David Yates told MTV Movies: "We took Kreacher out, and Jo said, 'Listen guys, you don't have to put Kreacher back, but I'm just telling you, if you want to kind of keep a thread going for six and seven, you might want Kreacher to come back.' She basically told us Kreacher plays a role in Seven, in a sense. She hinted. We thought about it for five seconds, and he came back."

You mean the house elf of Sirius Black, not Lucius.

Kreacher
Kreacher is the Black families House Elf and currently resides at #4 Grimauld place the headquarters for the Order of the Pheonix. Sirius Black, Harry's god father is Kreachers master and to say that they dislike each other is an understatment. He's a horrible little critter who unfortunately has a big impact on Harry's life...

Kreacher currently resides at Hogwarts actually...
He was sent there by Harry at the beginning of Half-Blood Prince. He knows a lot more than we think as we shall read in the Deathly Hallows

You care enough to comment...Besides a billion people can't be wrong. And yes I know Kreacher is in Hogwarts now, maybe I should have worded it differently...

Yes, I find it amusing that you come in to every Harry Potter article and put a comment proclaiming that you don't care. Sounds like someone's begging for a little attention.

Can't wait
I've been a huge potter fan, like so many and the greatest thing is that these movies got darker and I really like that.

The highlight of ths film is goona be action scenes, specially voldermort vs dumbledore.

The final half an hour or so gonna be awesome.cant wait for potter 5.

I think that the potter series is a little overrated, but by no means do I hate it. I very much enjoyed Harry Potter 3. Harry Potter 4 was the worst of the bunch, however, this new one looks promising.

Harry Potter is overrated, we all agree. However, that does not mean it's bad. It's not the best series I've ever read by any means, but it's a decent enough read and interesting enough to get me to see the movies.

I'm glad they keep Kreacher. Apart from continuity, he's a pretty awesome creature (pun unintentional) and sort of shows the dark side of house elves that we never got with Winky and Dobby.

Good call on keeping Kreacher Jo. That's one of the minor complaints I have about the movies. They often leave out little detailed subplots that become important later. I understand with the length of the books you have to do that to translate them to film, but I was kinda hoping with this one they'd be able to keep that to a minimum. Since in my opinion this was probably a the book that was most written to be adapted to film. I thought there was a lot of space from the books that could have been cut to make it fit in a 2 hour film.

Mortimer, there's a good Atheist vs. Religion debate going on under the Evan Almighty thread if you want to try making enemies and influencing no one that might be a better place to do it. Way to try to suck away peoples enjoyment because you don't agree with it though, you're a hero.

No bigbrother, you're a hero. You made it through reading these books! They were so long, they stood before you like mountains. "I not care, I do this" you mumbled. And look at you now! Stringing full sentences together! On the internet no less! I tip my hat to you, sir. I'm glad your love for books about super-witches and goblin-babies has brought you happiness. You know what I'd like to see them do with this film? Hand over the reigns to bigbrother, and let him film it in his backyard, with all the characters played by him and his wife.

Kreacher is probably the one that drank the thing from the bowl when RAB took the gold lock and destroyed the horcrux.

Kind of scary.

Sadly Scarborough we can't all wile away our days sitting naked on our couches in a pile of our own feces whacking off to guns and ammo and thinking "God damn I am one crazy SOB" like you, but I am impressed that you deduced the pro-Super-witch/Goblin baby agenda prevalent in these books. I'm sure you didn't even need your teacher at the "special" school to help.

My loathing for you is still as boundless as the ocean Scarborough Fair.
