Travolta Welcomes Kotter Remake
by Fred Topel | July 19, 2007
Discuss Article
John Travolta has blessed Ice Cube's planned remake of Welcome Back Kotter, the TV series that launched Travolta's career. Cube's plan to update the series in a movie with current racial dynamics sounds like a plan to the original Barbarino.

"I can't wait to see it," said Travolta. "I think that'll be fun. I think it's a good idea and I think it's so much smarter that he does it with another perspective than what we did so it's new."

Of course it would be a major coup to get Travolta in there as a cameo, but he's not so sure about that. "I don't know. I've been approached on it but I'd have to see what it was and how it was and what the real thing was."

thanks travolta, scientology really has taken whatever was left up there. Ice cube remake of my beloved Brooklyn's finest remedial students?!

Hell , No Barberino! Someone call Woodman in heaven and tell its finally happened the sweathogs have finally devolved into an Ice Cube remake, good freakin god. Move over Honeymooners with Cedric the Enternainer and make room for the worst remake ever. Ice cube shouldn't be allowed on a movie set after his all time bombs of "Are we there yet" and appropiately titled "Are we done yet". Yes i and the rest of the world are done when it comes to even thinking about ice cube in a motion picture.

All these facts and Travolta still believes but what do expect from a man who did Battlefield Earth, one of the worst of all time. Its said for me to say but Barberino your out of the sweathogs, brooklyn and of my respect. Someone call Kotter i need to hear one of family stories so i can end my wretched pain of this devestating development. oh yeah, great to be the first to comment and folks i'm ready for your best but be warned Kotter's wife Julie's famous tuna carrosal. yumm!

Current racial dynamics? Didn't the original incorporate about as many different dynamics as possible in one show? or is he just using the wrong word there. I have to think he means it will address modern interactions between the old dynamics or is my memory just failing and their wasn't a white guy, a black guy, a jewish guy and an italian. Call me crazy, but adding a latino, hispanic or Native American isn't a significant enough change to warrant calling it a new modern racial dynamic.

Well, to quote Tim Curry after appearing in The Rocky Horror Picture Show; "What else would you expect from a man dressed in drag to say?"

well, i'm expect him to have integrity and just enough foresight to

realize ice cube is an all time bad actor and someone of "his talents"

(whatever they might be or were) should never be allowed to touch one of

t.v.'s all time favorite hits and turn it into an ice cube movie.

good lord, according to jim doesn't deserve that for pete's sake. but hey if they

can ruin the honeymooners(top ten all time tv show) with a historic rotten

tomato with the talented big guy, Cedric the enternainer, about the greatest

big guy of all time, Ralph Kramden.

Then I guess they can let someone who has no talent, destroy a wonderful

brooklyn tale I grew up with and loved, do an equally epic bomb about four

beloved BRooKLyn sweathogs and make sure my memories are raped completely!

Thanks Travolta, you are no longer welcomed in brooklyn and let me tell how

much that pains us here in the county of Kings. Oh, and good job in hairspray, i enjoyed it but we will soon forget thanks to this heartbreaking omission.

What the h*ll is this? Another remake? Hollywood, enough with the remakes already. You already ruined The Honeymooners, which happens to be one of my favorite shows.
