"It's the most insane mash up you've ever heard," said Murphy. "It's The Incredible Journey meets Terminator and Watership Down. There's three animals: a dog, a cat and a rabbit who have been turned into Terminator cyborgs by the government. They get loose and they just want to get home, and the government is doing everything possible to stop them but they're heavily armed killing animals."

Adapted by Grant Morrison from his own graphic novel, Murphy hopes to attach a director and move into production before the June strike deadlines. "We're this close to having a director sign onto that which hopefully we'll make. We like to do things that nobody's seen before. If we can pull off the killer robot animals, that you've never seen before."

Murphy's wife and producing partner Susan Montford suggested there is a sensitive side to We Three. "It's very beautiful as well," she said. "It's a real tear jerker if you can imagine."
