Bette Midler, Cloris Leachman, Carrie Fisher and More Join The Women
"There's a word for you ladies, but it is seldom used in high society, outside of a kennel."

After thirteen years in development, the Diane English-directed remake of The Women is finally filming -- and, as Variety reports, some familiar names have just been added to the cast.

In an article posted last night, Variety lists Bette Midler, Cloris Leachman, Carrie Fisher, Lynn Whitfield, Joanna Gleason, Ana Gasteyer and Debi Mazar as the new additions to a cast that already included Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Candice Bergen. For those who have never seen a production of the Clare Boothe Luce play (or the 1939 film, directed by George Cukor), the article describes it as being about "friends who discover the pal they envied most is being cheated on by her husband."

The Women is currently shooting in Boston, and is being co-financed by Inferno, Picturehouse, and Dove (yes, the soap company). Mick Jagger (yes, the Rolling Stone) is listed as one of the producers.

Whoa! Picture this; the entire cast is P.M.S'ing at the same time and O.J. Simpson stops by the set offering to read from his book 'If I Did It.'
