Tim Allen to Make Directorial Debut
The news you've all been waiting for.
You may know him as Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor, or the star of comedies such as the Santa Clause films and that Shaggy Dog remake, but what Tim Allen really wants to do is direct.
Variety reports that Allen will be doing just that when he steps behind the cameras for Crazy on the Outside, "an independently financed comedy" that's set to star Ray Liotta, Carrie-Anne Moss, Julie Bowen, and Kelsey Grammer. Check it out:
Scripted by Judd Pillot and John Peaslee, the adult-themed comedy stars Allen as a parolee who finds life outside a prison cell to be much crazier once he enters his quirky sister's world.
According to the article, Allen recently wrapped a role in a David Mamet film, which undoubtedly violates at least one law of physics.

![]() on Mar 04 2008 06:17 AM Hopefully Tim Allen can direct comedy better than he can perform it. The only thing he did that I thought was gold was Galaxy Quest. Just a brilliant movie. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Mar 04 2008 06:22 AM Agreed on GQ. I was always a fan of Home Improvement, never cared for any of the other films he's done outside of "Quest" but this sounds like it could possibly not entirely suck. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 04 2008 07:14 AM I really liked Big Trouble...and GQ was fantastic. Not a fan of Home Improvement at all though. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 04 2008 08:08 AM when i looked at mamet's recent films i immediately assumed allen was involved in his latest project "Joan of Bark: The Dog that Saved France" but it turns out he's in "Redbelt," which seems like an adult version of the karate kid with no signs of mr. miyagi. shucks. on Mar 04 2008 08:46 AM In reply to this comment (#1615608) I agree. I find him to be a very charismatic, enjoyable person to watch. Christmas With The Kranks and The Santa Clause are two of my favorite movies. People are unneccesarily cruel to him. And Home Improvement is one of the best shows to ever be on TV. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Mar 04 2008 09:07 AM Tim gets too much ****. The first santa clause movie was ok considering who they targeted the movie towards. It could be ok, I don't really know enough about any of those writers, though. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 04 2008 09:36 AM In reply to this comment (#1615766) dude the santa clause and christmas with the kranks are two of your favorite movies? you've got some real soul-searching to do. even if that's true, don't admit it to people. and american eagle's lame. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 04 2008 12:38 PM In reply to this comment (#1615726) Redbelt looks interesting, D. Not sure where the Karate Kid comparison comes from. I'll admit I am biased, the humble martial artist living by a samurai code aspect, and the fact that Chiwetel Ejiofor stars. Now, Mamet's current track record does make one worry though. Rank this as one of those films that I want to be good. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 04 2008 01:27 PM I like Tim Allen. I'm interested to see what he can do. Plus his film has Ray Liotta and Kelsey Grammar, that should be a fun team to watch. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 04 2008 02:39 PM Tim Allen has had an interesting career. Home Improvement was a very successful sitcom, and Tim went on to have a successful kids film career despite having a shady personal life. I think 3 Santa Clause films earns him the right to try his hand with something "adult-themed". I'd watch this movie. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 04 2008 03:06 PM In reply to this comment (#1615916) Newsflash! Not everyone has the same taste in movies. I don't need the Academy or anyone else for that matter to tell me what a good movie is. Besides, I said they were two OF my favorite movies. Not that they ARE my two favorite movies. The only people who need to soul search are people who insult others tastes in movies on a website message board. Really, how juvenile can you get? (Reply to this) |
