Starting May 30, Eddie Murphy would like you to Meet Dave, and Yahoo! Movies has your first taste of what to expect from his latest comedy.

Directed by Brian Robbins, Meet Dave stars Murphy as a humanoid spaceship containing a miniature crew whose knowledge of human behavior was apparently cribbed from Brad Pitt's performance in Meet Joe Black. Or something. We aren't sure, and it may not matter anyway.

Meet Dave was scripted by Mystery Science Theater 3000 vet Bill Corbett, and also stars Gabrielle Union, Ed Helms, Elizabeth Banks, and Judah Friedlander. To get a look at the sum total of all that talent in action, follow the link below!

As a LONGtime MST3K fanboy and now Rifftrax devotee ... this one hurts my soul a little bit. I HOPE this is good for Bill Corbett's sake ... but you can't ignore the fact that this is an Eddie Murphy movie. Today's Eddie Murphy. The guy who's responsible for Norbit. I'm a little afraid. Okay, maybe more than a little afraid.

At first I thought, "Who's allowing Eddie Murphy to make another movie?" Doesn't he have friends? You know, like not letting someone drive drunk: "Friends don't let friends film stupid." And he used to be so good! But I have to say, this actually looks like it has possibilities.

With that said, this might be the single dumbest film idea ever. I could feel myself getting angrier as the trailer went on. I need to watch Gigli to feel better about the film industry.

Scared to say it, but it looks *gasp* like it might be funny. But that's me desperately nostalgic for vintage Eddie Murphy. His last really good film was Boomerang. And that was 16 years ago!

But, to be fair, Life ('99) and Vampire in Brooklyn ('95) weren't bad either.

Hell Eddie, give something even remotely as respectable as The Distinguished Gentleman and we can at least root for you again.

Just watched the trailer. The cat part made me laugh, but otherwise...dude needs to stop making movies. I could throw a dart down Sunset Blvd and find guys with better scripts than he chooses (and that's not counting myself).

Philosophical question: if the man must later write the Rifftrax to the movie he wrote, does he retain the privilege of lampooning himself throughout the recording? Or must he abstain and be the subject of his cohorts' ridicule?

Eddie, keep making stupid movies...you will still spend money on a car that is worth more than most of these guys make in their whole lifetime! hahaha who needs to stop making movies???? No matter how many stupid movies he makes, he still gets 9 million a movie, not to mention of he is Exec. producer, then he gets royalties. Most comedies like this cost around 30 million. Even if it does 10 million at the box office, it would still do another 5 or 10 in foreign, then another 10 or so in DVD rentals, not to mention when HBO, Showtime, or Starz ends up buying it....and that is just worse case scenario.....so in the long run, Eddie Murphey may make stupid movies (in your opinion) but he makes money. Just like Tyler Perry!

holy crap, some people are actually saying this looks OK. Eddie Murphy should not be allowed to work anymore. this has gone WAAAAAY too far.

and don't even trip, he's going to appear either as a non-black person or someone who weighs 400 pounds somewhere in this movie. it can't not happen.

besides the fact that this is an unmitigated disaster of a motion picture, could they have ripped of Men In Black a little more? Right down to the ear being used as some kind of button.

How far he's fallen from a microphone, a red leather jumpsuit and some of the funniest material ever delivered.
