I was quite surprised by the lukewarm treatment this one received from the critics -- it seems to me a thoughtful portrait of a relationship. The acting, from all three leads, is quite good and the script is insightful without lowering itself to cheesy sentimentality.
Originally planned as part of a trilogy, this is a creepy little science fiction film that will especially appeal to fans of the cyberpunk genre. The script isn't anything special, but the direction is spectacular and Jeremy Sisto turns in a great performance.
A well-constructed, well-acted legal thriller with only one major drawback: at times, it's a bore. Fortunately, the ending is enough of a payoff to make up for this.
