If you're expecting a film as enthralling & thoughtfully crafted as the first two X films you'll be disappointed. It's still a decent superhero flick though. The acting is good by Jackman (charismatic), Lieber (menacing) & co. There are some spectacular action scenes. The cinematography is lush. There are moments of wit & emotion in the script.

As a past reader of the comics there were some revelations about the Wolverine character that were interesting & new to me.

The narrative just lacked an engaging flow & build up. There were cliches & contrived relationships. Ironically though the climatic battle with Deadpool, riddled with predictabilities somehow managed to be the most intense part of the film for me. The post credits ending was neat too.

Better than the 3rd X film & a good prelude the series. Worth checking out. Just don't expect a world beater.
