Posted on 7/17/09 at 8:23 PM After seeing this movie 3 times, I have to say it's the Best one so far. The acting is superb. The special effects are Seamless. The cinematography is Stunning! While the overall story differs from the book, I think the filmmakers very successfully captured the tone of book 6. The movie is simply amazing. The way they mix the darkness and the comedy is perfection. None of the scenes feel out of place or wrong. I love how all of the actors completely embody the characters they play. Everything is just so natural that the movie just flows. Some of the other films felt a bit rushed, but Half Blood Prince took it's time and it's the perfect set up for movie 7.
I really can not wait to see it again. |

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)

Posted on 4/13/09 at 3:19 PM I absolute love this movie. It was excellent and I think the film makers did a great job getting a 900 page book into a 2hr. film. Even though ALOT of stuff from the book wasn't in the movie...they still did a wonderful job capturing the overall themes of the book. And the focus on the characters and their development was spectactular. I just LOVED it and it's definitely a new favorite. I can't wait to see what they do with Half Blood Prince.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I can see why some people would dislike it (especially book fans). They did leave out alot. I actually think this is the film that left out the most from the book, but I also think it's one of the hardest to adapt to film. It's not as action-packed as the other books and the majority of the book takes place in flashbacks. It's a very emotional, slow moving book that shocks you at the end. And I think that's what the movie did. It captured the overall tone of book 6. It's basically the "calm before the storm." HBP is the funniest out of the series and they did a great job with that in the film. There's also a lot of romance in book 6 because they don't really get a chance to evolve those relationships in DH because it's so much non-stop action. And again they did a great job of that in the film even though I think they could've done a better job with the Harry/Ginny romance. There were a couple of things left out that I think they will be able to tie up in Deathly Hallows like the horcruxes, Sirius' two-way mirror, Harry seeing the tiara in the room of requirement, Bill and Fleur, etc. But overall I really loved the movie.
