So bad, it’s still not good or funny or anything worth watching at all. Distance yourself from this shitter of a movie, as I think this would, contrary to what some... More

When it comes to the public and media fascination with serial killers and the like, this is the film to watch. Critics were divided upon its release in the grey area of this film, some sure they were seeing something great, others seeing something painfully hard to watch. I agree with both sides but by challenging the viewer with a hard subject matter, its emotionally hard to not to feel something strangely compelling about the views expressed in this film. I first saw this on DVD back in early 2004, I’ve since watched it several times enjoying and noticing different elements of the film each viewing. This film feels even more stark and vibrant, and more focused now that I’ve finally purchased a copy of it. Filmed in black and white, with many scenes of jaw-dropping brutality, this is without a doubt, the most appropriate and unflinching look you really can get on this subject. This little film fully embraces the dark nature of serial killers with a deft tongue of humanistic, almost gut busting sense of humor, it’s still chaotic though, but it’s injected with a great morbid sense of humor into the overall experience. I found myself thinking after just laughing at a scene “Did I just laugh at what I think I did?” It really does the job when it comes to exposing our perverse fascination with controversial figures, when we pretend to look the other way, but on the inside we are still fascinated by the subject. Too many debatably memorable scenes to put down, this film will easily offend a casual viewer not used to the flourishes that a foreign film can give this kind of subject. It strongly divided viewers and critics alike when released, I’m sure it will still do that today.

I've heard this is a controversial one, but a lot of movie fans seem to like it. Interesting review.

Yeah, it's well worth a view for sure, if not maybe even a purchase, I'd see rent it first though
